FEDPARDY!

Tuesday February 27
by Fancy-Fancy

Eight players joined me in Studio 1 for tonight's edition of Fedpardy, with DJ's challenge and the prize of a slithy tove for whoever could take the championship besides him. Kblackdragon, Djentsch, Captainfuzzy, Ariadne, Arlene, Urgalis, Desaxman, and Madadder were all present, with six of them participating. I went over the rules for those who needed them, and then revealed the categories we would use tonight. They were: I-Spy, In Uniform, Fun and Games, and Literature in Fed. They players spun the Phrase Game wheel for the honor of selecting first, and Kblackdragon won that. KB selected Fun and Games for 2, and the game was on.

Arlene, Kblackdragon, and Urgalis all attempted the question, and all three missed it to lose 2 points each. Dragon shifted the selection to In Uniform, and the players fared better there, with Urgalis getting back 1, and Arlene 2, who then found the first Daily Double in Literature in Fed for 4. Arlene decided to make it worth 2 points, and this was his answer:

This publisher puts out titles such as Venusian Babes, Martian Maids, and Readers' Droids. Their office also sports a centerfold from Raunchy Rigellians, looking suspiciously like Bella baring all.

He got it correct with, "What is Dirty Boy Productions?" Arlene went back to In Uniform for the next selection, and Djentsch got on the board for 3. The 4 point answer got some of our players, though, with Madadder, Arlene, and Dragon all trying it and missing it for -4 each. Finishing the category for 5, Madadder rang in and got that one to go on the plus side for good. Selections from I-Spy finished up the Fedpardy round, with Madadder collecting the 1 and 2 point answers, and Arlene the 3. That gave Madadder the lead at the half with 4 points to 3 for DJ, and 1 for Arlene, with Urgalis at -1 and Kblackdragon at -6. Dragon said he had to leave, and Urgalis as well, so Arlene ended up with the initial selection of Double Fedpardy as the one trailing, and chose Literature for 10.

Madadder rang in and got that one to extend his lead and selected I-Spy for 8. No one tried it, nor the 10 pointer, and he next selected Fun and Games. Djentsch rang in to get the 2 pointer, and Arlene the 6. Arlene then selected Literature for 6, but nobody attempted that one, but he did get the 4, and then the 2 pointer got passed on. With Fun and Games left for 8 and 10, Arlene selected the 10. Captainfuzzy rang in to attempt a response, but didn't give the correct one to go in the hole, and no one else tried it. That left the final answer on the board, the second Daily Double, for Arlene, with 11 points to 14 for Madadder and 5 for Djentsch. Arlene decided to make it worth 3 for a tie, and this was the answer:

In several places around the solar system you can see the equipment for this game. Frequently, the equipment is also pinning a picture.

After thinking about it for a bit, Arlene responded, "What is darts?" That was correct for the tie at the end of Double Fedpardy. Arlene, Madadder, and Djentsch advanced to Final Fedpardy, with Arlene and Madadder knowing they would have to defend against each other to try to win the slithy tove, with Djentsch in position to perhaps pull it out if they both slipped up. Kblackdragon, Urgalis, and Captainfuzzy all finished in the hole and were done for the night. For the Finalists, I gave them the category of Factories to help them decide how much they wanted to risk. They TB'ed me with their wagers, I reminded them to make sure to phrase their responses in the form of a question, and when they all verified they were ready, I presented tonight's Final Fedpardy answer:

After nanos, one of the commodities a factory can produce which will put the fewest number of people to work.

Djentsch, in third place, responded with "what are lubs", a correct response. And he bet all 5 points, doubling his score to 10.

Madadder responded wrote down, "What are Lubs and Props?" Both correct responses. He bet all 14 of his points, doubling his score to 28. Djentsch knew then that his challenge would be won tonight.

That left Arlene, whose question was, "What is LubOils?", a correct response. Arlene also bet all 14 points, tying Madadder once again for first place after Final Fedpardy.

Arlene and Madadder agreed to break the tie for first place, and I looked through my archives for some suitable questions to use for it, and found some from Akaturi Items. The first correct response would win the tie-breaker. I used two answers and questions from the category which neither one was able to get. The third one, though, decided it, with Madadder ringing in to respond correctly to take the tie-breaker. Congratulations to Madadder, who won Djentsch's challenge and a slithy tove with this week's Fedpardy championship!
