ALL CHANGE FOR THE TIME CHANGE

by Hazed

After predicting a riot, I now predict time chaos. Congress voted in a bill last year to change the dates that the clocks go forward and back, thus extending daylight saving time in a bid to save energy. This year – and presumably in years thereafter - the clocks in the US will go forward an hour on the 2nd Sunday in March, which is the 11th of the month (rather than the 1st Sunday in April as they did previously).

Daylight saving time will run until the 1st Sunday in November, which is the 4th of the month, as opposed to the last in October which it used to do.

There is a great deal of concern about whether computer systems will be able to cope with this alteration to the time change date. We could be in for another Y2K-like scare!

In Europe, the time change will continue to happen on the dates it always has done, and this year daylight saving time starts on Sunday March 25 and ends on 28 October.

See http://webexhibits.org/daylightsaving/b.html for more details.
