WACKY WORDS

Thursday February 1
by Emie

Thursday night's edition of Wacky Words saw a rare occurrence – two famed players, Fancy and Arlene, both showed up to compete in the event. The brave third player was Captainfuzzy, willing to take on the legends himself.

Fancy took an early lead by unscrambling the first word, DISPLAY, after which I revealed to the players that all of tonight's words would be Things You Can Display in Fed II. While some of these commands are second-nature, others are seldom used! Fancy picked up the next word, FLEET – a lesser-known command used by POs to list the ships registered to their planet.

Not to be counted out, Arlene quickly nabbed a series of words: FUTURES (which Captainfuzzy had unfortunately blocked from his memory), LOUIE (a fun game you can play in any bar!), PLANET, and PRODUCTION.

Fancy matched Arlene's streak by scoring the next four words for himself: DEPOT, REGISTRY, SHARES, and SYSTEMS – though he had Captainfuzzy hot on his heels in the last one. With half the puzzles solved, Fancy held a two point lead over Arlene.

Opening the second half, Arlene unscrambled UAHEEOWRS in record speed to find WAREHOUSES. Next, Fancy solved the puzzle for EMAIL – a useful command that allows players to display the email address currently on file with Fed2.

Still two points down, Arlene nabbed the next three words: COMPANY, ACCOUNTS, and AKATURI, to pull into the lead. Captainfuzzy suffered another painful flashback at the mention of the last word. Arlene extended his lead to two points by successfully unscrambling NSVEET into EVENTS, but Fancy quickly countered by solving for CHANNEL.

The next word, MEIOCANSP prompted Arlene to initially respond "comapnies", but he was so quick he managed to send in his correction before anyone else could get their answer out! The correct answer, of course, was COMPANIES. Once again, Fancy countered by solving CEGEAHNX for EXCHANGE.

Going into the final word, Arlene lead Fancy 10 to 9. He successfully unscrambled the final display command, FACTORY, to secure his victory with a final score of 11 points. Once again, I thank all my dedicated players for making time to come have a good time with their favorite second family, the event staff at Fed II. Next week's Thursday event will be Wacky Words, at 10pm eastern as usual.
