THE BIO BUG

by Hazed

When the exchanges got re-rolled, a bug became apparent. On the first day, the new resource planets were showing no production in biological commmodities, but suddenly on the second day bio production appeared. Very odd! Particularly since planets are not supposed to produce any bio commodities at all, apart from bio planets themselves!

It turned out the bug had been there all along meaning that all agri planets had in fact had some bio production, even though they were not supposed to - it just wasn't noticed until some planets were promoted to resource level.

There is a long, complex, and very very technical explanation as to why the production was only showing up on the second day, but frankly my eyelids started to droop before Bella had got a quarter of the way through telling me about it. Suffice to say that she has fixed the bug.

In fixing the bug, she has ensured that when planets promote to resource in future, they will not be given bio production, and neither will newly-founded planets. Those planets that promoted this week have probably lost their bio production, since the bug fix was put in before the new production figures were saved out permanently. However, Engineers who are part of the test team and whose planets became resource planets the week before will get to keep their erroneous bio production, and so will all the existing agri planets, because it would be far too difficult to take it away at this stage. Over time, as the agri planets promote, their bio production will vanish, leaving just the biological planets to fulfil the Galaxy's needs for bio stuff!
