REAL LIFE NEWS: BURGLAR NICKED BY HOLIDAY LAPTOP

I've often wondered why people take a laptop away with them when they go on vacation - it can't be conducive to relaxation to be constantly checking your emails! But a businessman on holiday in Spain was able to thwart a burglary because he wouldn't leave his computer at home.

Engineering boss John Ellison had invested in an expensive net-connected CCTV system, and he was able to watch an attack on his home in Lancaster, England, despite being on holiday in Malaga, Spain. The £20,000 security system automatically notified him with an SMS message that something was amiss after burglars smashed their way into the house through a conservatory door. He logged on using his laptop and saw the raid in progress, so he contacted police who were able to catch two of the three thieves in the act - the other one got away.
