REAL LIFE NEWS: MICE DON'T REALLY LIKE CHEESE

This will come as a shock to Squeeky, but scientists have just announced that mice loving cheese, as depicted in many, many cartoons, is just a myth. Dr David Holmes, from Manchester Metropolitan University, said that mice would be more likely to be lured into a trap by cereal.

He said: "Mice respond to the smell, texture and taste of food and cheese is something that would not be available to them in their natural environment." The researchers found a mouse's diet mostly consists of grains and fruit. Not cheese.

They think that unlike cartoon mice such as Jerry (from Tom and Jerry), a real mouse would turn up its nose at something that smelt as strong and tasted as rich as cheese.

The findings were part of a wider study into what foods attract and repel animals.
