FROM THE POSTBAG: EXTRA PLANETS IN A SYSTEM

by Junior Newsdroid Arrtew

Here's a technical question about linking planets into a star system, that we couldn't just make up the answer to: we actually had to ask Hazed for the facts. (Facts? We don't need no stinking facts...)

The questioner wanted to know:

Is there a way to link 2 planets into the same system by getting the original system owner's space file and submitting both planet files with the space file?

Well, technically, yes it is possible to have more than one planet in a star system, and to have the planets owned by different players. That's how the Solar System works, after all. But Sol is a special case.

In practical terms, right now each out-of-Sol system can only have one planet in it. At higher ranks, POs will be able to add a second and third planet to the system, but they will have to be owned by the same player.

However, POs can cooperate if they want to write a puzzle that ranges over two separate star systems. It is possible to have an object found on one planet be used on a different planet, so you could work together to come up with a quest that forces players to fly back and forth from one planet to another. You can request some custom objects for the puzzle, or wait until the next rank - Engineer - is in the game and you are allowed to write events yourself.
