THE RETURN OF FED2 EVENTS

Fed2 Events are back! After taking a break for the summer, the event team are raring to go, ready to bring you fun and competition in your favorite events. In fact, they've already started, with the return of Cryptograms and Feddergories yesterday - the reports of those games will be in next week's Star.

Cryptograms on Saturday afternoons is a fiendish code-breaking game. The host, Catspaws, gives you a list of words or phrases that have been encrypted using a letter-substitution code - and you have to crack the code. There's a lot of head-scratching as players try to spot the key letter that will help them to unravel the enigma.

Feddergories on Saturday evenings, which in a change to the old schedule is now going to be run weekly with hosts Jessecka and Robius taking turns, is a word/letter association game. The host gives a category and a letter, such as "Fed player names beginning with H" and the players have to think of a word that fits. The twist is that if two or more contestants come up with the same answer, they don't score in that round, so it pays not to come up with the obvious answer of Hazed! Unless you think everyone else will avoid the obvious, so it will be OK for you to use it...

Returning in their old time-slots are the Tuesday games Fedpardy and Fed Phrase Game. These two games are run by Fancy and take the form of familiar TV panel games. Fed + Jeopardy = Fedpardy: Fancy gives an answer, and you have to come up with the correct question. Subject cover all kinds of topics to do with Fed past and present. Fed Phrase Game is the Wheel of Fortune for Fed. On each turn, you choose to spin the wheel, buy a vowel, pass a turn, or solve the puzzle. Yes, there's a real wheel which you really spin! Both these games are run in the studio on The Lattice, although spectators can watch them broadcast to a channel.

On Thursdays, Squeeky will continue to host Fed Word Scramble and Wacky Words. Fed Word Scramble (braced worms fled) is an anagram game (a magma range) where you're given scrambled words and have to unscramble them into something to do with Fed. In Wacky Words, you're given a word and have to come up with a Fed-related phrase where each word starts with the letters in the source word - for example, you could turn FIG into Fed2 Is Great. Both these games are played on the comms channels.

We're also going to start running a special edition of Wacky Words on alternate Sundays, to give players from Europe and other non-US-timezone parts of the world a chance to participate. If this is successful we'll try to add more events to the schedule at earlier times to cater for players around the world.

On the other Sundays, Catspaws will continue her Role-playing Classes. In these classes, she teaches players about all aspects of role-playing, as well as highlighting some of the things in Fed2 that you can use to inspire role-playing.

See the new event calendar, which runs to the end of September, for all the details.
