ROLE-PLAY CLASS

by Catspaws
Sunday July 9

At our last class, we did a bit of reminiscing about Classic Fed, and things like sliding the shelves and sliding down the banister. After writing the report, I received some interesting information from our demi-goddess, Hazed. Not only can we still slide down the banister in the mansion on Earth, but there are a lot of other fun role-play things to do in Sol that not everyone knows about. So she promised to share a list of these for my class.

As the class always meets in Chez Diesel on Mars, this seemed like a good place to start our search for role-play items. One of the first things to look for is objects in the room that are not players. For FedTerm users, in the upper left corner is the location window. In addition to the names of players, the names of mobiles will appear. For Chez Diesel, you can see that Diesel and Arcturian are present. Both can be examined, and a mobile's description can often be another clue. "...her baseball bat rests on the bar where she can grab it easily in case of trouble." Now try to examine the bat. Nothing... Examine baseball bat. There we go! There aren't really any clues examining the Arcturian, except for one..."Diesel's alien piano player, Phil..." A piano player needs a piano, right? So examine the piano. (The room description would also point out the piano, so be sure to read those carefully.)

So, we have several objects already: Diesel, Arcturian, baseball bat, piano. Now, what can we do with these objects? Well, you can always talk to the mobiles. Some will talk back, some don't. Diesel talks back - a lot. GET mobilename doesn't seem to do much good. Hint: Before messing with mobiles, eat a good meal! HUGging Arcturian gets you a hug in return. Diesel is a bit more elusive, perhaps because of her shady reputation in Classic Fed. Hmmm. Let's try to kiss them. If you KISS the Arcturian, you get thrown out of the bar. If you try to kiss Diesel, she will shun you. GROPE Arcturian doesn't do anything, but groping Diesel is quite painful. You will definitely need a good meal afterwards. As for the inanimate objects, the baseball bat and the piano, GET piano isn't really feasible, as it's so heavy. And getting the bat is painful. You can, however, PLAY piano.

Now we left Chez Diesel and went to the Crossroads. Being feline, I already knew about the tree here. What cat doesn't climb any tree she finds? Most of the class, however, had never tried it. So we spent a few minutes climbing the tree. For those of you who have never tried it, it is not appropriate to climb the tree, and you will rapidly find yourself standing next to your shuttle with your hat in your hand.

There is one final object to be found on Mars - the sportster. We had a great ride in the sportster, to the awe of those who had never noticed it before, then we moved to Earth.

As mentioned before, you can SLIDE DOWN BANISTER in the mansion on Earth. If you're not certain you're in the room, try to EXAMINE banister. Our first stop on Earth was to the Computator's Office for an object I never noticed before - the RTFM manual. Haha! Try to READ the manual, as well as EXAMINE and GET.

From here, I made a bold decision and counted noses. After stopping by the storeroom to slide the infamous shelves, we filed to Gallagher's where we outfitted TenBrane keychains for those who didn't have one, then we trooped back to the Executive Washroom to practice our new skills. I challenged everyone to track down all of the items in the room. I won't reveal all the secrets of this room. Suffice to say, it is well worth a slithy to have access to this fascinating room.

I am embarrassed to say that I have passed the dumpster on the road near the Earth exchange numerous times and never thought to open it. Try it, it's hilarious. Other Earth locations I mentioned in passing was the Bust in the Galactic Trading Guild, and the Cell door in the Cell Block.

We went to the Zoo and bought Animal Food from the Vending machine. There are several things you can do with this food: USE FODDER, EAT FODDER, or FEED animalname. The animals you can pet or get or feed or examine are the camels, the giraffes, the hippos, the elephants, and the grizzles. Spend a lot of time at the zoo, it's quite entertaining.

As it was nearing the end of our hour, I decided to finish Earth with a visit to the Path Lab in the hospital for another object I never noticed before - the Skeletons. You can GET or PLAY the Skeletons. How cool is that?

At our next class in two weeks, we will continue to explore the mysteries of Sol. Be sure to join us to discover all the special secrets Hazed shared with me. The Role-Play Class meets on alternate Sundays at 4.00pm eastern, so the next class will be held on July 23. You won't want to miss this must-attend class.

Between now and then, visit some of the places mentioned today, and see how many other objects and things to do you can find before the next class. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised how many of these you see all the time and just never really noticed before.
