FED PHRASE GAME

Tuesday June 13
by Fancy-Fancy

Four players joined me in Studio 1 for tonight's edition of the Fed Phrase Game. Bluehorseshoe, Asterix, Ondine, and Nolepaul came to the studio to play, while Squeeky watched on the channel. I explained how to play the game for tonight's new players. Once that was done, I had the players spin the wheel to determine the order in which they would take turns. Ondine got the best spin to go first, followed by Asterix, and then Bluehorseshoe. Nolepaul joined in at the end of round 1, and went after Bluehorseshoe.

Tonight's first puzzle was a 5 word thing (8, 2, 3, 5, and 5 letters), which Ondine got to start. She found several letters, including buying a vowel enroute to racking up 3300 points before picking an S missing from the puzzle. Asterix took over and added a couple letters and bought a vowel of his own before hitting a Lose a Turn. Bluehorseshoe got the puzzle and picked up a free spin and 150 points before a Bankrupt ended his turn. He decided to save his free spin. Ondine got the puzzle back, and bought the A's, then spun and added the W before solving - "Employee of the Month" award - to take Round 1 for 3250 points.

Round 2 was a 2 word thing (10 and 7 letters), which Asterix got to start. Asterix found a pair of R's before missing with an N. Bluehorseshoe found a pair of T's before hitting a Lose a Turn. He again elected to hold onto his free spin, and Nolepaul took over. Nolepaul landed on a free spin, but couldn't pick it up when his choice of a D was not in the puzzle. Ondine landed on 1000, but couldn't take advantage with an S. Asterix got the puzzle back and added a C, then bought an E, but there weren't any in the puzzle. Bluehorseshoe got the puzzle again and bought an A, of which there were three, but then missed with an H on his subsequent spin. He again decided to hold onto his free spin. Nolepaul spun the wheel, but there were no M's for him. Ondine hit a Lose a Turn, and Asterix landed on 1000, but couldn't take advantage with a K not in the puzzle. With control of the puzzle once again, Bluehorseshoe bought the I's, then spun for more points, uncovering the F, L, G, and V before solving - artificial gravity - for 1950 points.

Round 3's puzzle was a 6 word phrase (3, 4, 5, 4, 4, and 6 letters). Nolepaul got to start it, and did so in fine fashion with 4 T's for 1000 each and 2 H's for 750 each. He bought the E's, found a pair of N's, and bought the I's and O's before calling an L not in the puzzle. Ondine promptly landed on a Bankrupt with the next spin, turning the puzzle over to Asterix. Asterix found a C, bought the A's, and uncovered the D, S, U's, M, and Y, before missing with a G. Bluehorseshoe made the most of the opportunity, landing on 1000 and filling in the last two spaces with R's before reading the puzzle revealed in its entirety to solve it - The auto-dryer hums into action - for 2000 points.

We were running low on time, but the players agreed they would like one more puzzle, so I presented my fourth and final puzzle tonight, which was a 6 word living thing (1, 5, 8, 5, 8, and 8 letters). Nolepaul got to start it. He found 3 C's, an H, and bought the E's before a missing S stopped his turn. Ondine got the puzzle and added T, R, A, N, D, L, G, I, and finally K before deciding to solve - A large gleaming black arachnid creature - to take Round 4 for 4300 points!

That concluded our game tonight, and I added up the scores. Our runner up tonight was Bluehorseshoe with a total of 3950 points, and our big winner was Ondine, with 7550 points. Congratulations to them both, and thanks to all for playing. Join me again on June 27 at 10.00pm eastern for the next Fed Phrase Game. And on June 20, join me in Studio 1 for FEDPARDY!
