CRYPTOGRAMS

Catseye oceans are rich with tuna, as we all know. Even so, I like a little variety in my diet. Although, the person who told me the fish at The King of Corsica on Sumatra was to-die-for just may do that... Ugh! At least the entertainment on the holo behind the bar was interesting, although it didn't distract Fancy-Fancy, as many hoped.

Despite the offer of a slithy tove, we still only managed 4 players, although we did welcome the return of Salvador to our midst. Our new scoring system, however, seems to be popular. Fancy finished the puzzle first, followed by Gwaptiva, Salvador, and finally Gilar.

NAMES OF FOUNDERS:
E U S U Q P A U
R B K A R B Q
V U Q P
M U O C U A
R B B Q O
U S R U Q C Y D A O

The second puzzle was a fun one for me, anyway, because there are a lot of planets with five letters in their names. Gilar finished this puzzle ahead of Fancy, followed by Salvador and Gwaptiva.

PLANETS WITH A 5-LETTER NAME (DI SYSTEMS):
P B Z A N
A C T V S
M V S V X
A G P D I
O G M Z S
M A N C M

Always a popular puzzle, for me anyway, company names tend to be a challenge for the players. This week was no exception, with Fancy, Gilar and Gwaptiva finally solving the puzzle, and Salvador completing 5 of the six entries.

NAMES OF COMPANIES IN FED2 (DI COMPANIES):
I K O N N / Q R Z X N / N M I N O R O V Q N Q
Q I L O U P / G Z O M Q
C Z U R P O N / A V Q Q / D N Z R L M / Q P Q I N U Q
D N Z Q N T / R O L Y V I Q, / V M X
R T Z M N I / Q N O C V X N Q / V M X
O N W / L X I L G N O / V M W J Q I O V N Q, / T I W

Anyone who hasn't done so really should read the Encyclopedia Galactica. It's marvelous reading, although there is no mention of spectacular felines - yet. Gwaptiva soared to glory ahead of Fancy and Gilar while Salvador took up the rear. (Gwaptiva really is getting good at this game.)

ENTRIES IN THE ENCYCLOPEDIA GALACTICA:
T G A F N / M V / O P A / K W F K G A / X Z I
Z F L C O F M Q B / T W O P D A F O
V A J D A F B A
O P A / S Q O A F F A B Q W L
P A S C A Q D A F B ' C / X Z F A P M W C A C
G W T N E / G M W S A

Finally, we looked at those strange and rare beasts, the slithy toves, and what they might talk about (if they could talk at all). Fancy, Gilar and Gwaptiva, knowing how I think, finished the puzzle, and Salvador managed four entries.

THINGS A SLITHY MIGHT SAY:
OMZ / QM, / V'Q / BHAMBF
SH / FHI / ZKVAC / V'Q / EIZM?
V / OGHQVRM / AHZ / ZH / YVZM / ZHH / KXGS
SHA'Z / FHI / BHJM / QM?
QF / BXRZ / HNAMG / AMJMG / SVS / ZKXZ
AHN / PHG / QF / AMLZ / ZGVEC....

When the scores were tallied, Salvador finished fourth. Gwaptiva finished third by a single point, and since Gilar withdrew himself from the slithy competition, won the slithy, which he proudly displayed for everyone. Gilar finished second, and Fancy won first place.
