What Were You Thinking?

Just when I start congratulating myself on what a rational and sensible community Fed2 is, something always happens to prove otherwise. Yesterday, Nightdroid and I were plotti//chatting in the Lucky 7 Saloon when it was brought to our attention that someone had created a rather dubious sounding company name, Allied Sexbots Ltd.

What was the CEO thinking when he created that name? Was he thinking, I want to create a company name that is going to attract Staff attention like a big old electromagnet? Was he thinking, I'm going to make sure they keep an eye on me? Was he thinking, I want to make sure Staff check my planet, when I get one, location by location? Was he thinking, if I can get away with this, I can break more obvious rules? Was he thinking, I want to make life more difficult for myself? Was he thinking, I want to make sure Staff never has to give me the benefit of doubt?

Does that company name actually break Fed2 Rules? Well, it's in a grey area, actually. It's my opinion that the name and similar names are in the category of "pushing the spirit of the rules". I'm absolutely in favour of fun company names. I'm in favour of clever, risque company and planet names and themes. The line gets drawn when it becomes explicit. Sensual and sexy are great, sexual is not allowed. In fact, I'd recommend anyone with questions about what is appropriate in Fed2 check out not only our simple, basic Three Rules of Fed2 but also the more detailed explanations at http://www.ibgames.net/fed2/info/fed2rulesexplained.html.
