REAL LIFE NEWS: TV DIGIBOX HOLLERS FOR HELP The rescue copters from RAF Kinloss were scrambled recently, on a rescue mission to trace a vessel in distress which had sent out an SOS call from the Portsmouth area in the south of England. A coastguard helicopter spent two hours searching the harbor area, before the signal was traced to dry land. It was found to have been sent by a TV digibox! An RAF spokesman said the signal had been a "complete freak". Digiboxes are not supposed to put out any signals - they are there to receive digital television and certainly shouldn't be sending out maydays. The owner of the rogue digibox has handed it over to Ofcom, the communications regulators, whose engineers are trying to figure out why it was screaming for help. Perhaps it had something to do with the quality of the programmes... |
