BOYS LOVE THEIR ERRR... TOYS

by Jessecka

Ever wonder why guys seem to have this need for larger and larger ships? I asked myself this question the other day as I sat in my bar, listening to a conversation between various male humaniods, and pondered the meaning behind the gloats of how many bays their Imperial held, or how much gas their Guardian guzzled. Could it be that larger ships have something to offer to us that the female population fails to understand? Does your social status climb the more bays you can carry? Is it some primal need to be able to dump 12 bays on an exchange at one time? Or could it be an innate desire to compensate for areas in their life that they might be somewhat lacking in?

Men start out their days like most of the rest of us, toiling across Sol in a Harrier that the bank still owns. Almost immediately upon the paying off of the loan, men start to hunger for a bigger, faster ship. Does it come with a bigger engine? How many bays can I carry? Should I have a large fuel tank, or stop for gas often? These are just a few of the questions that begin almost as soon as they hit Captain.

I started doing some research on just how many guys in Fed2 had overly large ships. You would be amazed at how many men who really have no need for large ships have that huge Mammoth that holds 9 bays, or that gas guzzling Imperial lugging around 12 bays. I found Financiers still chugging along in Guardians, Mammoths....even one Imperial! (Sadly, I must admit that my husband, Robius, is the Financier with the Imperial....)

During my research, I did run across some guys who had downgraded their large ships for more economical ships once they came to a rank that did not need hauling. Which still brings up the question, are these the men that feel more comfortable with themselves and do not feel a need to over-compensate with large ships? Remember guys, the next time you go to order that new Imperial, that it's not how big your ship is, but how well you navigate the stars!!
