FEDERATION 2 PLAYER PLANETARINGER: TENPIN - BOWLING SYSTEM
Tenpin the bowling planet has been in Federation space for many years. A busy economy and the bowling capital of known space, Tenpin thrives. Tenpin like her sister planets Candlepin and Duckpin attracted the best bowlers who came for the annual tournament held in April. Hundreds of Millions of groats changed hands with local betting and with off planet betting parlors. The tournament purse itself that totaled 500,000,000 ig. The Piper Corporation, a division of Great Games Inc. owns the alleys. The general manager ran a wonderful tournament. It was televised Federation wide. The near perfect alleys were made of the finest hardwood and the trees that produced that wood were grown locally on Tenpin. As the years went by, the manager of the alleys aged. He was replaced. The new manager was a younger and more energetic and made sure he followed the tournament format the old man had started. Not wanting to give up all contact with the tournament he had created, the old man took a job as handyman at the alleys. Everyone thought it was great that TPC/GGI would keep him around and old friends looked forward to seeing him each year. As it happens, it became the old man’s job to open and close the alleys each day. He was on his way to work one morning, as he was crossing the Town Square; an auto ran him down. Out of his pocket fell the key to the bowling alley. Near death the old man could not remember where the key was and sense there is a special lock which incorporated the latest in force field technology, all attempts to get into the alleys failed. Nothing short of having the key would allow the doors to open. Over the next few months the old man slowly recovered, but he has never been able to remember what happened to the key. All attempts to disable the force field have failed. The tournament was moved to small alleys on Earth but the tournament has never attracted the bowlers or generated the groats of the tournament on Tenpin. Life goes on and the old man still waits for the day he can reenter the alleys. Who will find the key and open the alleys? Reserved planet names |
