The Urban Spaceman Bar
This bar is run by a long-standing Venus resident, who got tired of the spacer's life and decided to settle down. It has become a popular haunt for off-duty spaceport workers and visiting spaceship crews. It can get very rowdy at times!
As you look around, you notice that everybody in the bar seems to be chewing!
The exit is south.

Examine Gengineer Catspaws
This pretty little kitty is clad in the cutest little space uniform dress with boots on her paws and a jaunty beret on her head. Unfortunately, she seems to be quite grumpy for some reason.

Meteu asks, "Shall we get started?"

Meteu says, "Welcome to Meet and Greet with Catspaws."

Meteu asks, "Cats would you please tell us a little bit about your life in Classic fed?"

Catspaws drawls, "Well, I started out on AOL fed. Munchkin claims she was around before me. She's delusional. I moved with Fed when it moved to the web...."

Meteu asks, "What did you enjoy about Classic?"

Catspaws drawls, "Back then it wasn't that easy to get into a duchy. But I found a home in...Nexus I believe it was. I was married at that time to Fancy..."

Catspaws exclaims, "Eventually I promoted to duchess and married KaiPanther and had way too many kittens!"

Bourbon says, "you do have this feline crave"

Catspaws grumbles about the old pirate cat howling on her back fence

Meteu asks, "Was your planet similar to the ones you have currently?"

Andrew says, "KaiPanther, that's a name I haven't heard in a long time"

Djentsch wonders if she is the little old lady next door with all of the cats running around

Catspaws exclaims, "And what I enjoyed about Classic was the friendships I developed...doh! I'm a feline!"

Icey says, "i remmeber kai"

Catspaws says, "Litterbox was my duchy. (Munchkin had the duchy of Dustbunny.) It was the same planet I have here in Fed2, only much larger. (The 50-location limit.)"

Meteu asks, "What were your thoughts about Fed when it moved to the web?"

Catspaws says, "I wondered how it would survive free. Then I wondered how it would survive pay2play."

Catspaws says, "I eventually moved on for a few reasons I won't go into at this time. Finances was one. Annoyance with a player who started his own religion another."

Angelfowl nods

Catspaws says, "Then Preach contacted me and told me the game was being revamped into a whole new game, and I had to find out."

Meteu asks, "What do you miss most about Classic?"

Catspaws says, "Fancy also worked to lure me back."

Catspaws winks, "I miss my spybeam ;)"

Andrew grins and nods

Catspaws exclaims, "And my porter. Gosh, how I miss my porter!"

Meteu asks, "What were porters?"

Bourbon laughs

Catspaws says, "But more than anything, I miss most of my oldest friends who aren't around anymore. (Teleporter, Meteu)"

Icey laughs

Andrew says, "someone to wait on you"

Catspaws says, "Classic had a lot of good points. But, so does this game. On the surface, they may LOOK alike, but it's really like apples and oranges."

Meteu asks, "What did you like about Fed 1?"

Catspaws says, "I think the builds were more exciting from a roleplay standpoint in Classic. A lot more fun too, though they're more original here."

Catspaws says, "There was something about gathering tons and tons of junk and storing it in your warehouse, then pacing for an hour waiting for your build to finish, that just was fun."

Angelfowl nods

Catspaws says, "You'd do a build, and everyone on Channel Nine would spend an hour partying with you and congratulating you."

Djentsch pulls out a fresh pack of Yak 42's and removes one. Flicking the self-ignition patch, he lights the end and relaxes in the resulting aromatic haze...

Angelfowl blinks

Jewells begins to cough and sputter.

Andrew coughs

Catspaws exclaims, "Now, it's just "Gather 10 Meg, issue a command." From a roleplay point of view, it's boring. Gosh, Dj, put that silly thing out!"

Djentsch grins

Meteu asks, "You started RP classes, why is that?"

Catspaws exclaims, "Bella's going to kill me when she reads this!"

Angelfowl laughs

Djentsch says, "what else is new"

Catspaws says, "Freya is responsible for that, Meteu. She noticed there wasn't a lot of roleplay going on, and recruited me to be roleplay lead. One of the things she wanted specifically was classes."

Catspaws grumbles.

Djentsch thinks that the kitty hit the wrong button

Catspaws asks, "Ok, who did that to me?"

Logical has left.

Catspaws says, "No, I just lost connection for no obvious reason."

Meteu asks, "Have you always been big on RP?"

Catspaws says, "I spent ten years in another game that was pure roleplay, and I do mean "pure"."

Catspaws says, "You couldn't "go afk", you "entered a trance.""

Catspaws says, "There were penalties for going out of character."

Bourbon says, "been there"

Bourbon says, "not the penalties thingie"

Catspaws says, "That game finally gave up the ghost last new years eve."

Angelfowl nods

Catspaws says, "Not this last one, the year before."

Angelfowl smiles, "Sounds like my type of thing :)"

Meteu asks, "Do you think that Fed should be 100% RP?"

Catspaws says, "After that, roleplay in Fed is a cakewalk."

Catspaws says, "No, not Fed. There are a lot of people in Fed who are not comfortable with pure roleplay."

Angelfowl loves to roleplay

Catspaws says, "I do think, though, that everyone should take advantage of some of the basic roleplay tools we have, such as moods, descriptions, and such."

Bourbon stumbles out of this chair

Djentsch thinks that Angelfowl is a role that needs to be played :-)

Angelfowl laughs

Angelfowl smiles, "I use to do battle type things with a friend... they were so much fun :)"

Catspaws smiles, "Angel, you just like being a holy chicken, and a holy terror :)"

Taking Advantage of some of the basic roleplay tools in Fed, Djentsch has left.

Meteu asks, "Cats, seeing as you are Feds only feline why do you play a feline?"

Catspaws says, "I'm actually not Fed's only feline. There's Fancy, and a few others who show up occasionally."

Catspaws says, "Including my real life daughter and her close friend, who play my children."

Catspaws says, "But, there's a funny story about how Cats came to be."

Angelfowl grins and listens

Catspaws asks, "Remember I said Munchkin claims she was first in Classic?"

Angelfowl nods

Meteu nods

Catspaws says, "She was in her first duchy, and in the middle of an arguement with her duke's girlfriend, when she heard some little squeaks at her feet in real life. The cat had had kittens."

Catspaws says, "True Fed kittens, and I started counting kitten feet."

Catspaws says, "So that's where I got the idea for "Catspaws.""

Bourbon smiles, "unique way to make up a name :)"

Catspaws grins and nods

Djentsch thought that it was related to the pocket full of cat paws Cats carried around

Meteu asks, "Have you ever lost track of all the kittens on your planet?"

Catspaws says, "After Munchi got kicked out of her duchy, she took a back seat and Cats took over as the primary character."

Bourbon says, "right next to the four leaf clover"

Catspaws drawls, "Oh, not, I know exactly how many are there...."

Angelfowl nods

Meteu asks, "You are alson Fed Staff, what do you do for the staff?"

Catspaws pulls out a long list that contains the names of every cat and kitten in Chrysoberyl

Bourbon awaits the other Staff to comment....lol

Catspaws says, "I was recruited, as I said, to head the brand new roleplay team. Then I got the idea for a new game, Cryptograms. So that got me onto the events team. And I'm on the test team, and was on the planet team testing events."

Meteu asks, "What does the test team do?"

Catspaws smiles, "Test things :)"

Andrew laughs

Meteu asks, "Where did you get your planet name from?"

Catspaws drawls, "New things, buggy things, things DJ breaks..."

Angelfowl giggles

Catspaws says, "Chrysoberyl is another name for the gem, Catseye."

Meteu says, "Thats very interesting."

Munabilo looked that up on Wikipedia at least twice...

Bourbon says, "ummmmmm"

Angelfowl whispers to Bourbon, "It's also impossible to spell"

Meteu asks, "Does the audience have any questions for Catspaws?"

Catspaws says, "I did a lot of research to find just the right name for the system and the planet to have them reflect the feline nature of the character."

Bourbon says, "tell me about it"

Bourbon asks, "Furball, what would you like changed or added to Fed2 ?"

Meteu says, "If you have a question please raise your hand."

Bourbon raised his hand

Bourbon asks, "before or after asking the question?"

Catspaws says, "I would like, as I rather touched on before, to see more roleplay in what we do, like builds. They should be something special."

Meteu smiles, "before:)"

Jewells says, "gfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffftghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhy"

Catspaws says, "I would also like to see more people take advantage of the social side of fed."

Jewells says, "sorry.. the kitten wants to talk to Cats i guess."

Munabilo looks confusedly at Jewells

Catspaws says, "There's a reason there's a pub on every corner."

Catspaws grins at Jewells

Angelfowl nods, "I'd like to see more people hanging out too."

Meteu asks, "Any other questions from the audience?"

Andrew says, "Like Pub Crawls in Classic"

Munabilo says, "get some more merchants in here to haul our stuff while we socialize! ;D"

Jewells asks, "Wait.. you're supposed to do something besides socialize in fed?"

Jewells says, "oh.."

Catspaws says, "We complained and we got remote commands for our planets, yet we're still hanging out on our own little planets. If I were Bella, I'd be raising heck. She put a lot of work into giving us those commands."

Angelfowl nods

Munabilo says, "a bunch of people here right now... i call that a modicum of success ;D"

Meteu asks, "Are there any questions?"

Catspaws asks, "Yes, and the Econ class seems to be doing the same. But, where are all the impromptu parties?"

Catspaws asks, "Why are games hosts begging for players?"

Jewells drawls, "Cuz Munabilo always wins..."

Andrew exclaims, "good point!"

Munabilo says, "lol"

Joe says, "i tried to throw a party but everyone was sleeping :p"

Angelfowl laughs

Catspaws says, "It used to be "Because Fancy always wins.""

Angelfowl looks at Muna, "Maybe it's Fancy in disguise (sp?)"

Munabilo says, "nope"

Jewells says, "I haven't missed a game since i found out about the games.. heh"

Angelfowl looks at Jewells, "Where were you Thursday then?" grins teasingly

Catspaws says, "And that's my big beef. Not enough socialization."

Munabilo says, "well, Fed needs more advertising... and/or to become graphical, to attract a lot more people"

Jewells frowns, "I missed something on Thursday? :("

Bourbon nods

Jewells says, "Graphical.. ew yuck"

Angelfowl says, "Yeah, Federgories didn't run, not enough players"

Catspaws says, "Graphics would be a whole different game, and not going to happen in a free game."

Jewells asks, "where was I Thursday night?"

Angelfowl nods

Angelfowl says, "Yeah, I like Fed how it is... it makes it different"

Bourbon says, "apparently not in the game....lol"

Angelfowl says, "The whole text base thing"

Jewells says, "Graphical Games are boring.."

Andrew says, "I think Graphics would ruin Fed anyway, better to use your imagination"

Jewells says, "Yeah, graphics are so limiting."

Catspaws says, "Imagination is what always made Fed special."

Andrew nods

Joe winks, "this is as close as i get to actually reading a book ;)"

Angelfowl nods

Jewells exclaims, "A picture's worth a thousand words, my Martian Princess bum!"

Bourbon says, "like reading a book rather than seeing the movie"

Catspaws says, "Fed is as big and interesting and as unlimited as your own imagination."

Munabilo drawls, "I like the game, hence why I'm here, but doesn't seem to me that people are storming the login server..."

Angelfowl smiles, "You actually gotta use your imagination to play, and that's what makes it great :)"

Joe winks, "it's kinda like those choose your own adventure books ;)"

Catspaws says, "Fed also makes you use your brain."

Munabilo says, "just kinda saying, doesn't seem you can have it both ways, in this day and age, sadly"

Bourbon says, "omg, that's my downfall"

Catspaws says, "You want more people? Tell your friends about Fed."

Catspaws says, "If every one of you brought in one new player, think how many new people we'd have."

Bourbon says, "sad side is that many folks want graphics"

Jewells smiles, "none of my friends are smart enough to play Fed. :)"

Catspaws says, "And if even half of those bought slithies, we wouldn't be worrying where the server payment was coming from each month."

Catspaws says, "One of the positive things about Fed is you can build your own little world."

Andrew says, "and we have another 16 minutes to go :P"

Catspaws says, "You can populate that world with whatever your imagination wants to put there."

Logical has left.

Catspaws says, "There aren't that many games out there, graphical or text, that let you do that."

Bourbon says, "really, and play it the way one wants"

Angelfowl nods

Catspaws says, "I think that's what keeps a lot of people in this text game."

Meteu asks, "What do you like best about the events that you ran?"

Catspaws winks, "Watching the players get excited when they beat Fancy ;)"

Catspaws exclaims, "And, yes, it CAN be done!"

Meteu asks, "Where did you get the idea for your game?"

Andrew smiles, "Bourbon and I beat Fancy at Federgories :)"

Catspaws says, "We run events for the players' enjoyment. That's our payment."

Angelfowl exclaims, "I almost did it!"

Angelfowl smiles, "Beat Fancy.... at Crypograms too :)"

Catspaws says, "I was working a cryptograms and got to thinking, "This can be done in Fed." So I took the idea to Fancy, or Freya, I forget which."

Bourbon says, "congrats there Angel"

Catspaws says, "It was the most popular game in Fed for a while. Lately though, I can't get players."

Angelfowl says, "I don't even know when it's on.... ><"

Catspaws says, "And that saddens me, because it's my baby."

Andrew says, "I have never played crypto's"

Catspaws says, "You've missed something special."

Meteu asks, "Do you play games that are hosted by the other staff?"

Catspaws says, "I'm about to add some more classrooms to the university, and we're going to expand the class schedule to include classes for planet building and for futures trading."

Catspaws says, "And I'm going to put a taxi on the shuttle pad that goes straight to the school, and there's already one going back to the shuttle pad."

Catspaws winks, "Then even Bourbon can get there and back ;)"
