WEB FED AWARD WINNING PLANET:
MRIN - OVERLORD BELGARATH

Reviewed on February 15, 1998

Hopping through the Interstellar Link to the last of this week's planets, our reviewdroid found itself in orbit around what looked like a rather forbidding world. Making sure not to land on the semi-active volcano that's busy belching up smoke, it carefully settled its spacecraft on the planet Mrin.

Mrin is a planet best known for its vast library, but it's a rather odd world to be set on. This is anything but an inviting place to visit, with cold trails through the mountains, a volcano that's continually grumbling, or cliff faces that plunge down thousands of feet. Our reviewdroid pulled on its extra-duty parka before heading out of the confines of the cockpit.

If you want a little excitement in your life, however, you'll definitely want to come to Mrin. Our droid enjoyed checking out the mountains, and the Temple of Writing is positively eerie. The high point is definitely the Codex Library, however. You can wander in the stacks for hours if you so wish, looking at the different areas of books for research.

Mrin's an interesting planet with a lot to explore. Belgarath's done a good job of making this world fit together into unified whole, and it's well worth checking out. For those who like science-fiction novels, you'll also be quite amused by the subtle references to a number of different works throughout the planet. Congrats, Belgarath, you've also picked up a Carpenter's Award!
