The tiny trouble causing beasties almost succeeded in their efforts to overrun Fed, but we are happy to report that due to the valiant bravery of Bella who single- handedly defeated the invasion that nigh unto all of the mischievous creatures have been vanquished back to the net from whence they came. In other words - sorry about the problems with the Fed link last weekend, which resulted in the game being inaccessible for several days, and the complete absence of a news bulletin last week! **>> END OF THE WORLD PARTY POSTPONED A spokesperson for Lady Nocturne and Eventide Enterprises reluctantly reported that the official opening of her planet, billed as 'Bud's Proclaiming the End of the Universe--Again' Party, will be postponed as a result of the Gremlin attack on Fed earlier this week. While the spokesperson declined to comment further, sources who would only speak on the condition that they not be identified have reported that Nocturne is in a rarely seen ire due to this delay and that several of her staff members who have found disfavor in the Lady's eyes have been sent to the mysterious realms of 'Down Below' and have not been seen since. **>> GET ME TO THE TOURNAMENT ON TIME Baron Wildstar continues to hunt the elusive upstart seeking his lady's hand who seems to be everywhere but where Wildstar is at any given time. However, Darius seems to be having no problems finding Skeets whenever she is in Federation dataspace. At first this seemed like some strange coincidence or a great deal of luck on Darius' part, but now it is being rumored that Darius has a spy close to the Baron, keeping an eye on his every move. Some sources even whisper in hushed voices that the spy might even be Mosquito herself... (ed. note: another equally valid possibility is that Skeets has grown tired of waiting for the pesky Darius to be dispatched and is simply luring him close enough to use her assassin's skills on him.) **>> TALL AND DARK, BUT NOT HER HUSBAND While visiting the Netherworld for the press conference our newsdroid team did manage to catch a glimpse of the elusive Lady Nocturne as she reviewed hurried construction on Netherworld. While this in itself is not newsworthy, the Lady's companion was; the vidcam only got a quick glimpse of the tall, dark man who accompanied Nocturne but it was enough to ascertain that he was not Duke Nightstalker, leaving this newsdroid to wonder one of the oldest marriages in Federation DataSpace (ed. note: Not to mention the most infamous) is now on the rocks... **>> PHILOSOPHICAL QUESTION OF THE WEEK The following plaintive query was sent to Hazed via sendmail: From Lyzzystz: Why is it that everyone dies so often? Ah, a thorny problem that has been perplexing philosophers for many, many centuries - why, when insurance is so cheap and so easily available, do undertakers and funeral parlours still have such a thriving trade? **>> SPYNET REVIEW Here we go with a bumper two-week's worth of important facts and figures about the movers and shakers, the makers and breakers, in Fed DataSpace. The Tungsten Tourist Trap Trophy has been hotly contested over the past fortnight, with Aise just edging ahead having won it four times. Absolom tied for second place winning the T4 three times, as did the new planet on the block Wizard. Fractal grabbed the trophy just once. As per our little conundrum about death in Fed, we've lost Trader Rhiannon, JP Jordan and Baron Astrin. RIP, dears. Congrats go to Orakle, who reached Captain; Magnus who was promoted to Captain and Adventurer; Gemphyre who made it to Merchant; Tamara who became a JP; and Merlin who was promoted four times in two weeks, making JP, GM, Explorer, and then Squire of his new planet Wizard.
